How to Invert the Tones of the Grain Source for a Procreate Brush

Follow the steps below to invert the tones in the grain source in Procreate’s Brush Studio.

I’m working in Procreate Version 5.4.8 in landscape orientation.

  1. To open the Brush Library, tap on the brush icon on the top.
  2. If you’re in the correct library, go to step 5.
  3. Tap on the phrase “Classic Library” to open a drop-down and tap on “Back to libraries”.
  4. You’ll see Procreate Library on the left and Classic Library on the right. Tap on the one where your brush lives.
  5. Once you’re in the correct library, find the brush set in the left panel where your brush lives and tap on it – this will populate brushes in the right panel.
  6. Find your brush in the right panel and tap on it to open the Brush Studio.
  7. In the left sidebar, tap on Grain.
  8. In the middle top, to the right of “Grain Source”, tap on Edit to open the Grain Editor.
  9. With two fingers, tap on the image – this will invert the tones.
  10. On the top right, tap on the check mark to exit the Grain Editor.
  11. Again, on the top right, tap on the check mark to exit Brush Studio.
